The annual research symposium is the flagship event of CAPS Australia for fostering academic exchanges and research innovations acrossdifferentdisciplinesamongChinesescholarsandprofessionalsinAustralia. The participants include PhD students, young scholars and distinguished professors from different universities​ ​and​ ​institutes,​ ​joining​ ​together​ ​to​ ​share​ ​and​ ​celebrate​ ​research​ ​achievements.  
 
Since 2007, the symposium has been hosted across universities in victoria, attracting an increasing number of participants including renowned scholars from both Australia and China. It has received great support from the Education Office, Consulate-General of theP.R.ChinainMelbourne, host universities and CAPS partnered organizations. It is arguably the largest and most influential one-day multi-disciplinary academic symposium​ ​in​ ​Victoria,​ ​with​ ​over​ ​450​ ​attendees​ ​in​ ​the​ ​​9​th​​ ​CAPS​ ​Research​ ​Symposium​​ ​in​ ​2016.
